Local Shred Event Helps Prevent Identity Theft, Fraud

Special Thanks to AT&T for sponsoring this event.
State Representative Sheri Jesiel held a successful paper shredding event last weekend in Beach Park.

The Representative hosted the event to give local residents a free and easy opportunity to destroy personal documents they may have at home, to help prevent identity theft and fraud. Shredding documents to ensure personal information and data is destroyed is now more important than ever, with identity theft and fraud continually on the rise. Rep. Jesiel has provided a paper shredding event for her constituents annually to remind residents to take the extra step to protect their information.

Countless residents were able to come to the event to meet their State Representative, and take advantage of this great service! The end result was over 2500 pounds of shredded paper, which will be safely recycled.

If you are concerned about identity theft and feel your information has been compromised, the Illinois Attorney General has created an identity theft hotline. You can call the hotline number, or visit the website for more information on identity theft in Illinois here.
