Jesiel Named Spokesperson in House Education Committee

ANTIOCH – State Representative Sheri Jesiel (R-Winthrop Harbor) was recently named as the Spokesperson for the Appropriations Elementary and Secondary Education Committee in the House of Representatives.

The committee is comprised of 21 members in the House, and will be tasked with hearing legislation related to education policy and funding.

Rep. Jesiel has been a strong advocate on education issues throughout her tenure in the House and it has remained a top priority for the Representative in the 100th General Assembly. Rep. Jesiel was supportive of the state’s balanced budget that was passed this spring, especially the prioritized spending for K-12 and increased higher education funding.

She looks forward to using her expertise in accounting and passion for education to help determine the best practices to further education equitably and adequately for all Illinois students.

“I am honored to be named the Spokesperson of this committee, and am ready to get to work to put our State in the best position to provide quality education to all Illinois residents,” said Jesiel.

Illinois House committees will next meet during Fall Veto Session, which begins November 13th for the General Assembly.
