Jesiel Appointed to P20 Education Council

ANTIOCH – State Representative Sheri Jesiel (R-Winthrop Harbor) was recently named to the Illinois P20 Education Council. The group was established by the General Assembly in 2009 to identify needed reforms to develop a seamless and sustainable statewide system of quality education and support from preschool to grade 20.

The Council will meet quarterly to work on improvements to the state’s education systems, to ensure smooth transitions from early learning through college. As a collaborative group, they will make recommendations to the Governor, the General Assembly and state agencies on the best ways to develop educational opportunities that will maximize students’ potential and adequately prepare students’ for success in the workforce. The goal is to increase the number of Illinoisans with high-quality degrees and credentials.

Representative Jesiel was appointed to serve on the Council by Governor Bruce Rauner.

“Improving our education system is the first step to ensuring a quality education for residents, and ultimately providing for a better, stronger workforce. This collaborative effort will bring together the right pieces to make the best changes to Illinois’ education system moving forward.”

Jesiel is one of four legislative members that will serve on the Council, alongside others from local government, businesses, universities, school boards, nonprofits and more.
